Requirement for net zero commitments for UK public contracts

The UK Government is putting a line in the sand — a couple of lines, actually. Firms bidding for Government contracts over £5m will have to have net zero commitments and ‘firms will also have to publish “credible” carbon reduction plans setting out their existing greenhouse gas emissions such as fuel usage, power consumption and staff travel’. Legislation, first of its kind globally, to be in place by September 2021.
