A guide to net zero and how to get started
From September 2021, all small and medium enterprises that operate as government suppliers must commit to net zero by 2050 and have evidence of a carbon reduction plan in order to bid for contracts of £5 million and more. Complying to this new rule not only encourages SMEs to achieve their own sustainability ambitions; it also provides a real competitive advantage as buyers increasingly demand scope three accountability from their suppliers.
At Plannetzero’s webinar on November 3 at 10AM, the Small Business Crown Representative, Martin Traynor and the Small Business Commissioner, Liz Barclay will examine the implications of the government’s policy and how SMEs can answer the call for net zero. This will provide a vital source of advice for SME owners, who will have the opportunity to present their questions to Liz and Martin directly. Plannet Zero’s Head of Offsetting, Bill Goldie, will also help attendees to understand how to offset their corporate carbon footprint, cost considerations and wider long-term benefits of implementing a net zero business strategy.
